As an associate at EVX Ventures, Charles conducts scientific landscaping and technology scouting to source venture building/investment opportunities. Prior to joining EVX Ventures, Charles worked as a patent scientist/trainee patent attorney at an international IP firm, where he handled a wide range of biotechnology inventions originating from biotech companies and research institutes.
Charles obtained his Ph.D. in the National University of Singapore (NUS), where he studied cell and molecular biology using the human parasite T. brucei as the model system. His doctoral research focused on genes critical in cilia development which underly a plethora of human diseases (“ciliopathies”), a theme he extended into his postdoctoral research (IMCB, A*STAR) from a developmental biology perspective. At EVX Ventures, Charles seeks to leverage his background in basic biology as well as experience in IP to help catalyze scientific breakthroughs into transformative new therapies.
