Independently design, execute and troubleshoot experiments in mice and in cells to engineer gene therapy cargo for the treatment of genetic cardiomyopathies
Document and interpret data to develop and improve experimental procedures
Contribute to joint projects internally and actively participate in external academic and industrial collaborations
Communicate with and manage scientific collaborators to manage project milestones
Keep detailed and accurate records of experiments, data and analysis to support and protect intellectual property of the company
Prepare and present scientific updates internally and externally
Basic lab management duties
PhD in Cell and Molecular Biology, Developmental Biology, or related fields
Extensive expertise in working with mouse model systems (administration of drugs, tissue extraction, processing, and molecular and biochemical analysis)
Strong understanding of and experience in cell and molecular biology including molecular cloning techniques, primary and immortalized cell culture, transfection, immunofluorescence microscopy, qPCR, and protein assays
Experience in design of gene expression constructs through appropriate use of promoter and regulatory sequences and an optimized coding region followed by functional testing in cell culture or in animals would be highly advantageous.
Experience with and knowledge of microscopy techniques, including principles and use of confocal microscopy, and quantitative fluorescence imaging and analysis is preferred
Experience with mouse genetics and colony management preferred
Experience in analysis of mouse cardiac physiology, such as ultrasound echocardiography is desirable. Experience with AAVs is desirable
Keen interest in translational research and comfortable working efficiently to meet milestones - High standards in documentation
Good time management and pro-active attitude
Excellent communication skills and able to work in a team
