Carcell is an EVX company that is building an “assembly line” business model that empowers rapid cell and gene therapy development. Co-founded by biotech veterans and backed by elite VCs, Carcell’s core capabilities cover all essential aspects of drug development including pre-clinical R&D, IP licensing and management, CMC and manufacturing, IND filing and clinical testing. This core platform will support multiple cell and gene therapy programs, with an initial focus on immune-oncology, autoimmune diseases and rare diseases. We believe that Carcell’s model of a centralized cell and gene therapy platform will rapidly and cost-efficiently translate innovative research into successful clinical products.

Carcell has R&D teams, central function teams, and manufacturing infrastructure based in Shanghai, Singapore, and Boston (upcoming).

We are looking for a Director / Associate Director with immuno-oncology background and expertise to join our R&D team in Singapore in this exciting venture. An ideal candidate is one who is technically competent, an effective communicator, and able to manage a team efficiently across multiple projects. This role reports to the CSO of the company.


  • Design experimental plans in coordination with research objectives of the R&D team

  • Assist in the recruitment, oversight, and mentoring of a team of scientists and research associates to ensure smooth R&D operations within the team

  • Stays abreast of the latest scientific and competitive developments and applying knowledge to team strategy and pipeline expansion

  • Regularly communicates results to project teams and senior leadership; prepares presentations, reports, patent filings and external communications as required

  • Contributes to building a culture that embraces scientific excellence and integrity with a sense of urgency and collaboration with key stakeholders

  • Maintain and manage external research relationships with academic and/ or commercial partners

  • Support the continued creation and expansion of company’s intellectual property

  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein


  • An experienced biologist with a Ph.D. in immunology, cell biology, or related scientific discipline

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in biological sciences research in an academic or industry setting

  • Candidate must have significant experience with immunology-based experiments and be familiar with the isolation, culture or handling of PBMCs, T lymphocytes, NK cells and other immune cell types

  • Experience in cellular immunotherapy is strongly preferred

  • Demonstrated a record of success with strong publications and/or patent filings

  • Experience in leading biology and cross-functional teams

  • Team oriented, highly motivated, execution focused with strong work ethic, ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial and multidisciplinary environment
