Nuevocor is a pre-clinical stage biopharmaceutical start-up dedicated to developing gene therapies to treat the underlying cause of genetic cardiomyopathies. Backed by an international syndicate of reputable venture capital firms, it will focus on advancing its lead program to clinical trials. It will also leverage its platform technology, underpinned by a deep understanding of cardiac cell biology and novel cardiotropic viral vectors, to discover and develop therapies for genetic cardiomyopathies. Nuevocor’s Singapore R&D site is looking for a highly motivated in vivo discovery (platform expansion) scientist to join the team.
Independently design, execute and troubleshoot experiments to identify and validate novel cardiomyopathy drug targets in vivo using a combination of proteomic, genetic and gene therapy-based methods
Document and interpret data to develop and improve experimental procedures
Contribute to joint projects internally and actively participate in external academic and industrial collaborations
Communicate with and manage scientific collaborators to achieve project milestones
Keep detailed and accurate records of experiments, data and analysis to support and protect intellectual property of the company
Prepare and present scientific updates internally and externally
Basic lab management duties
PhD in Cell and Molecular Biology, Developmental Biology, or related fields
Experienced in molecular and cell biology, including cell culture, molecular cloning, biochemistry (protein-protein interactions), and molecular assays such as qPCR, ELISA and Western blots.
Hands-on experience with mice essential
Preferred qualifications :
Extensive expertise in working with mouse model systems (administration of drugs, tissue extraction, processing, and molecular and biochemical analysis) is advantageous
Previous experience in the field of cardiovascular disease is preferred
Previous experience with AAV vectors is preferred
Keen interest in translational research and comfortable working efficiently to meet milestones
High standards in documentation
Good time management and pro-active attitude
Excellent communication skills and able to work in a team
