Carcell is an EVX company that is building an “assembly line” business model that empowers rapid cell and gene therapy development. Co-founded by biotech veterans and backed by elite VCs, Carcell’s core capabilities cover all essential aspects of drug development including pre-clinical R&D, IP licensing and management, CMC and manufacturing, IND filing and clinical testing. This core platform will support multiple cell and gene therapy programs, with an initial focus on immune-oncology, autoimmune diseases and rare diseases. We believe that Carcell’s model of a centralized cell and gene therapy platform will rapidly and cost-efficiently translate innovative research into successful clinical products.
Carcell has R&D teams, central function teams, and manufacturing infrastructure based in Shanghai, Singapore, and Boston (upcoming).
We are looking for a Scientist / Senior Scientist with immune-oncology background and expertise to join our R&D team in Singapore in this exciting venture. An ideal candidate is one who is independent, technically competent, highly motivated, and able to efficiently work across multiple projects. This role reports to the Head of Immunology.
Responsibilities
Perform independent research work through the design, execution and troubleshoot of experiments
Manage studies performed by contract research organizations
Evaluate and interpret collected data and prepare oral presentations or written reports/ scientific manuscripts/literature for publication. Present data from research work internally and externally
Contribute to scientific and strategy discussions to achieve R&D milestones
Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of research data, inventories, protocols, maintenance logs, sample processing logs, SOPs etc.
Support the continued protection, creation, and expansion of company’s intellectual property
Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein
Requirements
PhD in immunology or a related discipline
Candidates should be experienced in handling, culturing and immuno-profiling of PBMCs and related immune cells (eg. T and NK cells). Experience in immune co-culture and killing assay is a plus
Candidates should also be experienced in in vivo animal experiments
Experience with working knowledge of oncology and/ or immuno-regulation is a plus
General laboratory techniques that include immunological assays (such as flow cytometric assays), molecular and biochemical assays (such as ELISAs and Western blot) and microscopy
Able to manage and ensure smooth operations in the lab
Able to work in a fast-paced startup environment; Flexible, adaptable and adjusts quickly to changing strategic and tactical priorities.
