Nuevocor is a pre-clinical stage biopharmaceutical start-up dedicated to developing gene therapies to treat the underlying cause of genetic cardiomyopathies. Backed by an international syndicate of reputable venture capital firms, it will focus on advancing its lead program to clinical trials. It will also leverage its platform technology, underpinned by a deep understanding of cardiac cell biology and novel cardiotropic viral vectors, to discover and develop therapies for genetic cardiomyopathies. Nuevocor’s Singapore R&D site is looking for a highly motivated pre-clinical disease models scientist to join the team.
Responsibilities
Independently design, execute and troubleshoot experiments to design, develop and phenotype mouse models of cardiomyopathy
Determine efficacy of gene therapy strategies for mouse models of cardiomyopathy
Contribute to design of cardiac gene therapies
Document and interpret data to develop and improve experimental procedures
Contribute to joint projects internally and actively participate in external academic and industrial collaborations
Communicate with and manage scientific collaborators to achieve project milestones
Keep detailed and accurate records of experiments, data and analysis to support and protect intellectual property of the company
Prepare and present scientific updates internally and externally
Basic lab management duties
Requirements
PhD in Developmental Biology, Physiology, or related fields
Extensive expertise in working with mouse models(physiology, administration of drugs, tissue extraction, processing, histology, and molecular and biochemical analysis)
Strong understanding of and experience in mouse genetics and mouse disease models, including design of gene targeting constructs, engineering and use of transgenic mouse disease models and colony management
Preferred qualifications :
Experience in analysis of mouse cardiac physiology, such as ultrasound echocardiography is highly advantageous
Experience with AAV gene therapy is desirable
Good understanding of molecular biology, particularly in the design of gene expression constructs, would be advantageous.
Experience with cell biological assays such as immunofluorescence and confocal microscopy is preferred
Keen interest in translational research and comfortable working efficiently to meet milestones
High standards in documentation
Good time management and pro-active attitude
Excellent communication skills and able to work in a team
